Chander Haat is an artist-run commune and residency program in Sarsuna, on the southern fringes of Kolkata, India, founded in the late 1980s and offering residencies since to artists, academicians, curators, and creatives in visual arts, performing arts, new media, and curatorial practices. It provides a space for reflection, research, production, and cultural exchange, accommodating 1-4 residents for 1 week to 4 months in private or shared rooms with access to 3 studios. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary, experimental, and community-based art within a supportive environment fostering innovation and immersion in local culture.
