The Hill End Artists in Residence Program, run by Bathurst Regional Art Gallery, offered visual artists a residency in the historic gold mining village of Hill End, NSW, providing immersion in its inspiring landscape that has attracted artists like Russell Drysdale and Donald Friend since the 1940s. Residencies typically lasted four weeks or more in heritage cottages such as Haefliger's Cottage or Murrays, each with dedicated studio spaces for creative development. The program closed in when the gallery did not renew the leases on the cottages.
